Leading the Parade at Henley on Thames.
D DAY plus 50
Because of the 50 year anniversary commemorations of D Day the Band were kept busy throughout the year. The parade at Henley On Thames was particularly impressive as was the sounding of Last Post which echoed around the parish church of St Mary's.
The RBL's national launch of Poppy Appeal Week was formally marked onboard HMS Illustrious. The Band played its part by performing in one of the ship's hangers after coming down on an aircraft lift from the flight deck. All very exciting and a big thrill for everyone. After feasting in the ship's mess the rest of the day was spent with a trip around HMS Victory and a run on the breezy beach at Southsea. ( Well it was November). A great day.
At the National TYMBA finals held in Telford the Band gained a creditable 3rd place in their first year at Contest Class level.
